Red Shoe Week - Is it PMS or Menopause?

I told my first husband that whenever I wore red shoes it was a warning that I was having PMS (premenstrual syndrome). He knew to stay away-far away-whenever he saw me wearing them. I no longer have that husband but I do still have a few days each month when nothing goes right, no one pleases me and I cry for no good reason. My first husband traveled a lot for business and didn't always have the privilege of witnessing my mood swings during red shoe week. It wasn't until he changed positions within his company and started spending more time at home that our marriage fell apart. I blame the red shoes and his lack of ability to deal with an irrational woman. It's not his fault. Every grammar school should require that boys take a class in proper PMS protocol before they become men and start trying to "fix" a temporarily fragmented female. They should at least be warned that it is a futile effort so they don't make women even more upset by giving them unsolicited advice. Instead, boys should be given instruction on investing in good camping equipment or 100 ways to sleep on the sofa. My second husband understands this, but I think his first wife trained him. I can't take the credit. He just "knows" when it's time to go play golf or make an appointment with the shrink-for himself, not me. I'm fine. I'm just a woman on the PMS/menopause merry-go-round.

Now that I'm in my forties, I not only have PMS, I also have symptoms of early menopause complete with PTM (personal tropical moments). That's French for "hot flashes" in case anyone of the male gender is reading this and doesn't understand why your female friend was fanning herself with the leather-bound menu at that 5-star restaurant you took her to. You know the one place I'm talking about. You thought taking her there was going to earn you some pussy points, but she drank too much red wine (there was your first clue, the color red) and was asleep by the time you drove her home.

For middle-aged, wiser and more experienced women, having this dual diagnosis, is like having PMS all the time with a bonus week of "red shoe time" each month. It's hard to tell whether my temper tantrums are caused by PMS or by repressed anger issues from being so co-dependently nice to everyone when I was younger. Probably both; I'm thinking of dyeing my feet red. The red toe nail polish, while chipped and attracting attention, just doesn't convey the message.

And, speaking of toes, let's talk about wedding bands. Yes, it's red shoe week and I'm somewhat random in my thought process. I have trouble remembering to wear my wedding band. I'm always taking it off and forgetting where I put it. I think forgetfulness is also part of menopause; I certainly wasn't like this in my thirties. Now that I've gained a few pounds (okay, 30 pounds) since I married the second time, the band is too tight and restrictive-just like marriage in general. There are times when I don't want to put the energy and effort into a daily relationship with a guy I can't stay mad at. My second husband laughs at me when I'm having one of my episodes. Maybe I conveniently forget to wear the ring. After all, it does indicate that I'm not available and quite honestly there are times when I don't want to rule out my other options. If I'm going to wear a ring that says, "Keep Away" I may as well wear a toe ring. I don't mind people avoiding my toes.

One of my favorite martial arts is Junsado because it is very practical in the modern world and can save your life in a self-defense situation. Many forms of martial arts used to be relevant in their times but are not as realistic or beneficial in the modern world. Furthermore, many martial arts are not very practical in real life self-defense situations and are better suited as a sport. Junsado is a very realistic and practical martial art designed by Master Sang H. Kim. Master Sang H. Kim was an agent for the 202 Unit of the Korean Military and designed the Junsado system of combat for real self defense scenario.

The basic premise behind Junsado is being able to adapt to the changes that occur during a fight or confrontation. Junsado teaches one to adapt and react to changes in attitude, leverage, speed, and environment. Every movement has five stages that occur in order. They include preparation, execution, impact, follow through, and finish or repose. Moves include hand strikes, kicks, and joint locks. Stances and footwork are highly important. There are two kinds of stances, the full stance and the half stance. The different stances allow different types of moves.

In Junsado there are many different classifications of moves. Hand techniques can be closed, or open. Elbow strikes are circular, or linear. Joint locks are standing or ground based. Take downs are dynamic, or static. And footwork can be defensive, or offensive. These many options are what allow Junsado to be so responsive and versatile. Junsado also include armed combat that utilize perception and deception. The goal is that your opponent will not be able to predict or perceive what you intend to do. Moves that are telegraphed rarely connect or are effective. By masking intended plans and using decoy movements you can make more efficient use of your energy and your time. Deceptions can be obvious or unseen. An obvious deception could be a misdirected movement, such as faking a strike to the face and following it with a low kick that is unguarded against because the opponent moved to guard their face. Unseen deceptions involve making movements appear unplanned. For example, when you throw a hand strike you should not pull the hand back. Instead the strike should be thrown from its static point in the stance so it is not seen coming.

Junsado does not have any belts or any certification. Master Sang H. Kim stressed self teaching and self training. No one practices Junsado to show off in class, or put together a list of belts and awards to recite to people to impress them. Junsado is all about self defense in real life scenarios, and that is what the heart of the martial arts is all about.

You've read all the "best digital camera" articles, got the best price on your first digital camera, and even glanced at its owner's manual. Are you itching to take some shots of your family, or what?

Slow down, soldier. Before you take 200 shots that seem great at the time, but then upon review of the final picture are less than what you expected, let's prepare. Prepare?!?! I'll bet you thought charging the battery was the hardest part of taking great photos, didn't you? Sorry to disappoint you, but if you want to improve your photo results 50% in 2 minutes, let's review some basic advice of the pros.

There are two categories of GENERAL ADVICE which applies, regardless of whether you're using a digital camera to take family portrait poses, baby pictures, pet portraits, group pictures, funny photos, or even maternity portraits. The first category is...

"Good Planning" Advice for Photography Poses

1) Prepare For The Event

Prepare for the event by thinking about every photograph you want to take and what kind of photography pose or poses you would like to capture. Consider who, where, how, and the type of environment.

2) Take Multiple Photographs

Take multiple shots of each pose (remember, digital memory is reusable, a.k.a. "free"). Regardless of what you say or do, people will blink. And don't count on spotting small problems on the tiny camera LCD screen (even on full magnification); which leads to...

3) Check LCD Screen

Check the digital camera's LCD screen for general framing of the picture, any movement, visibility of faces, and the histogram. Note that you can think up a fantastic photography pose; arrange everyone perfectly; and, have the photograph "frozen" (no blinking, and no shaking of the camera)...but, when you check it out in the LCD, you see 2 drunks fighting in the background! And, my favorite...

4) Funny Phrases

Have some funny phrases handy to use just before you take the photo. Don't use it when setting up for the shot. And, don't use the same phrase all the time. Throw in funny anecdotes, phrases, names, words that you know your family will find more amusing than "cheese." A natural smile looks four times better than a fake one. The second category is...

"Location" Advice for Photography Poses

Taking indoor family photography, is very different than outdoor family photograph (duh!). For INDOOR pictures...

1) Wide Angle

You will tend to use the wide angle more often than your telephoto setting. Pay particular attention to your "end people" (those farthest to the right and the left in your viewfinder), and verify there is enough space in picture, so that if cropping is required, the end people don't have to lose a limb.

2) The Flash

Flash considerations are critical. Do not be outside your "flash range." For example, if at ISO 100, your flash can properly illuminate 12 feet, don't attempt any photography pose that requires anyone to stand at 14 feet (unless, of course, it's evil cousin Ira who you want to appear in darkness).

3) Plan "B"

If you need to be further away than your flash allows, here are 2 things you can try...First, increase the ISO setting (but not so much as to produce to much noise), or second, move to a significantly brighter location.

4) Watch Your Background

If there are distracting features, change your settings to blur the background (see the Techniques page). The best photography pose in the world won't look right with a distracting background. And finally...

5) Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall

If there are mirrors or reflective surfaces in the background and you can't find a different location, only take the picture in such a way that the flash is not perpendicularto the surface, but at an angle (unless you want a nice photo of your flash).

Outdoor family photography has completely different issues. For OUTDOOR photography...

6) The Sun

Avoid photographing in direct sunlight, or in mixed light and shade, especially faces. Optimal lighting results from a slightly overcast sky.

7) Shade

When photographing in shade, use fill-flash (see terms) when necessary. And, really finally...

8) Beauty

If practical, take the picture at one of the beautiful natural settings near you. Imagine the result of a creative photography pose captured in a stunning environment. Can you say: "Over the mantle!"?

Fishing Finicky Walleyes

Summer walleye, this is the time for the most popular game fish in Canada. Tens of thousands of anglers consider this their favourite fish to catch for the sport and mostly for the fact that it is one of the greatest fish to eat.

This tip comes from an experience while fishing walleye in Northern Ontario, on Manitoulin Island, in went out early in the morning hoping to pick up a few walleye early.

I headed for a shoal that I fish frequently; it is about 20 to 25 feet of water, and drops off to about 70 feet deep. After about and hour or so, I had 2 small walleyes to show for my effort. Guessing that the cool front that moved through over night had affected the fish, I started to fish the drop off and along the length of the shoal, and still no fish. With the help of technology (fish finder, sonar) I found that there were groups of fish suspended at 20 to 25 feed in 75 feet of water. I finally surmised that the fish holding at this level would be very hard to get to, and when suspended like this they are usually not in a feeding mood.

The next problem was that to reach these fish with my jigs and no bottom structure to follow was near impossible, although down rigging or trolling would preset my bait at a better level, if they were not actively feeding it was again a tuff sell for these walleyes. What is needed in a situation like this is a slow presentation of the lure or live bait. What I needed was a bait delivery system that would consistently put me at the right depth and slow enough to keep the bait in the strike zone for a long time, so as to tease them into action. I also wanted to be able to make long casts to allow long drifts through these suspended walleye schools.

I decided to give a slip-bobber a try; it's simple and deadly when used right. Most anglers don't use this walleye technique enough it works. The slip bobber, slips up and down the line from your hook to a bobber stop you set for the desired depth. I needed to get the bait down 25 feet; with the slip bobber the stopper you use to set your depth is so small that it will pass through the rod guides and onto the reel without no problems at all. And if you find your depth is not quite right you simply move the stop up or down.

Now with the slip bobber controlling my depth accurately, I was able to drift my bait (live bait, jigs, and plastics work well) right through these schools of walleye at nose level, also able fish very slow giving these finicky walleyes lots of time to make up their minds about having a snack. It was a large school of walleyes and the result was a couple of hours of super walleye fishing.

If you think about it slip bobbers can be used with your favourite live bait for walleye fishing. Either a plain hook or jig tipped with a minnow, worm or leach can be fished in the same way for precise depth control. Plus slip bobbers are not restricted to walleye fishing. They are great for all sorts of fishing, when conditions call for depth control, long distance casting or a really slow presentation. I have used them for trout and salmon in rivers, and even on bass in small clear pools where a long cast and slow movement is needed. I have taken a lot of nice bass from under and alongside the numerous swimming rafts and docks around different lakes I have fished and used this method quite successfully. These tactics also work great around bridge pillars, piers and supports, and weed lines, and dams. By casting so easily and smoothly they are great for kids, they love to see the bobber twitch and disappear.

Once you start walleye fishing and any other species, you will likely find all sorts of situations where they will be the answer to speed and depth control. Pick up a couple and try these tips, you will not regret it. Just go fishing!

Undercurrent Blues Has A Rhythm of Its Own - Poetry Book Review

On July 17, 2005 Cahuenga Press released Undercurrent Blues by James Cushing (Cahuenga is a cooperative press and Undercurrent Blues is the 14th book they have published since their inception in 1989). The collection includes poems written from 1989 through 1991 and 1997 through 2002. If youre like me, you immediately ask where 1992 through 1996 went. Mr. Cushing explains the skip in time in his Authors Note at the beginning of the book. Basically, the poetry included reflects the first 25 years of his writing life.

In Undercurrent Blues, The poems from 1989 through 1991 are from Mr. Cushings first book, You and the Night and the Music published by Cahuenga Press in 1991. The titles and poems are inspired by 20th Century American songs that have become jazz standards. In Fly Me to the Moon Mr. Cushing's lyrical style matches the desire for transport in that old standard but he offers us a deeper yearning in his stanzas.

We picked roles (insomniac shepherd, complaining nymph) from
a basket of fruit. Orisons rise from every third house, a glow like
a broadcast ending, and we wanted this, to live near the sun, that
constant burnt offering.

His poetry from 1997 through 2002 is a reaction to the death of both parents and the end of his second marriage to put it in the authors words darker stimulation. In spite of the dark stimulation, these poems have a sly sense of humor, an acceptance of lifes slings and arrows. Of these, The Turn of April shows the author's recovering hope:

I think we are moving, slowly and patiently,
within a great walled garden along an eastern path,
and I think I can assume we keep walking, lightly

We need to imagine that we're running a huge, multi-million dollar money churning machine in order to achieve that kind of status. It's pointless to say that we cannot expect to expand our business widely if we're running it in an irresponsible manner.

You have to imagine that you have a boss kicking you - mental or physical - either way, someone's got to do some kicking. Most likely it's either an imaginative boss or just you, mentally telling yourself to pull up your own socks.

In order to do this, you need to know the basics about running your own business. And here are some articles to help you along your journey to self-empowerment.

1. Make this a habit. Talk to yourself. It's a really simple thing to do. Step infront of a mirror and start talking. You'll find yourself getting the hang of it. There's nothing more powerful than self-empowerment or self-lecture, in my personal opinion. Even successful authors and self-help gurus can tell you the same thing - talk to yourself.

Everyday, get infront of the mirror, dresss yourself up real nice and then start talking. Start motivating yourself to move forward, talk about the things you need to achieve for the day, the to-do list, the total sales for the month, the number of people you will approach and talk to today about your business...etc.

It's not silly. There was one time my son, Joshua, caught me talking to myself in the bathroom mirror and he asked me, 'Mamma, are you talking to the mirror?' and I just bluntly told him, 'Josh, Mamma's in a meeting. I am talking to myself. Excuse me, yeah?' and you know what he did? He shrugged and walked away without saying another word.

2. Your to-do list is like your lifeline. Organize yourself and write a to-do list everyday. You need to religiously write down the things you're going to be doing for the rest of the day either in the morning (right after brushing your teeth) or you have to do it the night before. Either way, your to-do list have to be so handy that you can't do without it. I should be big enough to write a whole toilet-roll length of things to do but also small enough to fit into your handbag.

I have a small business designing and printing bookmarks and notepads - so, I use them and place them in my handbag. Whenever I am watching TV or answering nature's call or something and a thought hits me, I grab the notepad and jot it down. At night, I will review it and write down some more. During the day, I refer to it and tick off in bold red pen the stuff that I have done.

3. Draw the line. Yes, you need to draw the line between home and business. The importance of this cannot be downplayed. Yes, we all stayed home to start a home-based business because of a personal preference or because of our family - either way, being home makes it easy for us to be lazy.

If possible, don't combine your bedroom with your office. But we're not all as lucky, like me. My bedroom IS my office and that is precisely why I had to struggle for the first few months, getting adjusted to the fact that I am not allowed to touch my bed or cushy chair while I am at work.

When I sit on the computer and start working, I would have to tell myself out loud "Start working now - get serious". It's true, we have to be serious about our work and our business. Otherwise, no one would be serious about us, our products and our work. It really reflects on the way we do things.

4. Be available. One of the biggest point for me, is being available all the time. That's why I have the tagline: The freelancer that never sleeps. Not only does it reflect my committment to my job and work, but it is also quite catchy. There have been times when I have answered to my client's calls and emails in the wee hours of the morning (I work better at those hours) and they commented, "Gee, Marsha. You really don't sleep, huh?". And I just smile.

Obviously, being human, we all have to sleep.

But it's how you organize the time and also make yourself available whenever you know your client needs to reach you. Being in the Internet Business, I would have to be available to clients everywhere, considering the fact that some of my clients are physically located halfway across the globe. I still hold conferences with them over the Internet using my Voice Conference Room. I have my Chat system and also my Instant Messengers up day and night whenever the computer is on, or whenever my son is playing his Barney and Mickey Mouse softwares on the computer, it is still on. When someone is trying to get me, I would still know.

5. Selling doesn't stop. I have no idea why some people have such reluctance to accept the fact that even MLM companies are legitimate businesses. Sure, we cannot deny the fact that some of the products are just so WAY OVER PRICED because of the comission structure that the company has to pay out, but it IS still a business.

And the reason why I am using MLM companies as an example is because of this - selling never stops.

In a business, you never stop selling, not even when you're sleeping. You eat out for dinner with your family and there are potential customers everywhere. You sleep, and you dream about a new way of penetrating a new market. You're having coffee with a close friend and your friend's boss' niece is a potential client.

So, we all need to learn from MLM-ers. Selling never stops, unless you want the sales to.

Suduko has Captured the Minds of Millions!

Suduko first appeared as a game in the 18th century. It took almost 200 years before it made it into the media.

In 1979 the first Suduko puzzle was published in an American puzzle magazine called Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games where it was called Number Place

Then it disappeared back into obscurity in the West, occasionally appearing in puzzle magazines. In 1984 the Monthly Nikolist paper in Japan published the same kind of puzzle under the name Suduko. Other magazines picked up on this puzzle fad, but due to copyright reasons couldnt call it Suduko.

It was in 1989 Suduko made its first migration to computers. DigitHunt was published on the Commodore 64, bringing Suduko to a whole new audience. In 1995 it appeared on the Apple Macintosh, and then in 1996 on the Palm PDA.

In 1997 Wayne Gould, a retired judge from Hong Kong saw a partly completed puzzle in a Japanese bookshop. He spent the next six year producing a computer program to quickly produce these puzzles.

Wayne knew that the British loved crosswords and puzzles, so he contacted The Times newspaper in London. As he imaged, they leapt upon the idea and on 12th November 2004 published it under the name of Su Doku. Every issue of The Times since this date has contained a Su Doku puzzle.

Su Doku immediately grabbed the attention of the public, and just three days later The Daily Mail published the puzzle, but called it Codenumber. On January 19th 2005 The Daily Telegraph published its Sudoku puzzle, which was quickly picked up by other newspapers.

On May 20th 2005, Sudoku made an intercontinental leap and appeared in The Daily Telegraph of Sydney. This massive surge of interest has resulted in Sudoko being called The fastest growing puzzle in the world.

Despite being the first publishers of Su Doku, The Times were caught napping my the Daily Telegraph. Whereas The Times hid the puzzle in the middle of the paper, The Telegraph splashed Sudoko over the front page, realising that it was increasing sales. They took advantage of their market lead and published the first Sudoku book before the other papers realised just how popular Sudoku was.

By mid 2005, every paper in Britain contained a Sudoku puzzle and there was no escaping. Even small local papers were getting in on the popularity of the puzzle. The newspapers began to compete with each other, with both The Times and Daily Mail both claiming to be the first to feature this puzzle.

2005 was really the year that Sudoku captured the imagination of the British people. The newspapers published more and more Sudoku puzzles, even Teletext got in on the act. And then finally in July 2005, the satellite channel Sky One hosted the worlds first live TV Sudoku show.

It was during the promotion of this show that Sky One built a 275 foot (84m) square puzzle on a hillside near Chipping Sodbury near Bristol, England. It was next to the M4 motorway and was coincided with a major road expansion which meant drivers were going slower and could safely view the puzzle. Unfortunately for the television show makers, the puzzle had 1,905 correct solutions, not the usual one solution.

Sudoku, as a puzzle, has captured the minds of tens of thousands of people. Its a puzzle that is here to stay, but be warned, once you pick Sudoku up, you may struggle to put it down again.

Is Long Term Care Insurance A Wise Investment?

So a good question to ask is: What evidence is there that LTCi is a wise and sound investment?

Would you consider auto liability insurance a wise investment for a person that has assets that need protection? If so, why?

Now consider that if you can see the wisdom in investing in auto and home insurance in order to protect your financial plans and goals, doesn't it make sense to complete the circle of financial asset protection by adding long term care insurance, since the odds of your having to use it at some point in your life is so much greater than almost any other kind of insurance you may own?

If so, keep in mind that you can't get auto insurance to cover a major accident AFTER the accident has already happened, if you didn't have the insurance beforehand. Likewise, you can't wait to invest in home insurance until your home is actually on fire and burning down, and expect to be covered.

In a similar vein, the time to invest in LTCi is when you are healthy enough to be able to qualify and keep the rates low.

As summer kicks into high gear and temperatures rise, fishing for trout can become a bit more difficult. Trout of all kinds prefer cool running water, so as the water temperatures increase due to hot weather, fishing for trout can become more difficult. Because they prefer the coolest water possible, this means that the best times to fish for trout in the summertime is the mornings and evenings, and especially the mornings. The early morning is the time when the water temperatures are the coolest. As the day progresses, and it becomes hotter and hotter, what happens to the water temperatures? They become hotter and hotter as well, and the warmer the water temperature, the less active trout will become.

So now that we have the best time of day nailed down, what's the best method for fishing for trout in summertime? High water and run-off shouldn't be an issue as the summer progresses and the best method that I've found is live bait. Not only live bait, but live worms. Live worms fished in the flowing water of a river or stream is the best method for fishing for trout in summertime. But how do we present our live worms? Do we just "thread" them onto a hook, throw it into the current and call it good? No. The best way to present a live worm is through the use of gang hooks. Gang hooks, for those of you who don't know what they are, are simply a pair a small hooks tied in tandem. Gang hooks allow the angler to present live worms in a totally natural manner.

Fishing for trout in the summertime with a set of gang hooks and live worms is a great way to go. The rig is set up like this: First, grab the end of your line and tie on a small barrel swivel. This helps prevent line twist and gives you something to tie your gang hooks to. Now tie a set of pre-tied gang hooks onto the opposite end of the barrel swivel. Now split shot sinkers are added, above the barrel swivel for weight. The goal is to have your offering bounce off the bottom as is flows naturally downstream, so the number and size of split shot will vary depending on current flow. Now add a live worm to the set of gang hooks (if youre using night crawlers, simply pinch then in ). Cast out, close your bail, and let this offering "flow" with the current. You'll be able to feel bottom, and with a little practice the difference between bottom and bites is easy to distinguish.

Your best bet is to fish the deeper holes and runs of your favorite trout river or stream in the summertime. Because of the deeper water, these will be cooler, and therefore trout are much more apt to hold there. Using live worms in the summertime is a challenge as well, because of the fact that live worms need to be kept cool, in order to remain lively. This is where a bait bag comes in. A bait bag is a bag for carrying your live worms while you're fishing. Not only do bait bags give you the ability to always have your live worms hanging "at your fingertips", bait bags also provide an easy way to cool your live worms. When it's hot, simply remove your bait bag, dip the entire thing into the water, and put it back onto your fishing vest or shirt. This will keep your live worms cool and lively for an hour or so. When they start to dry out, simply repeat. A bait bag is a must in hot weather, in order to keep your live worms cool and lively.

Fishing for trout in summertime is a very enjoyable activity and these simple tips should help you out. The other thing to remember is that because of the warmer water temperatures, trout tire out much more quickly during the fight. So if you plan to release your trout, like I almost always do, remember to get them in as quickly as possible, and be extra gentle with them during hot weather.

The conventional treatment of prostate cancer is often controversial. Impotence is a potential complication after the prostatectomy or after radiation therapy. Surgery is usually only recommended after thorough evaluation and discussion of all available treatment options.

Recent improvements in surgical procedures have made complications occur less often. Anyone considering surgery should be aware of the benefits, risks and the extent of the procedure. Chemotherapy medications are often used to treat prostate cancers that are resistant to hormonal treatments.

Silver Use your fingernail, soft plastic or rubber spatula. Apply hot soapy water. Rinse silver in hot water. Wipe dry.

Leather, Suede scrape with a fingernail or dull knife. Apply a paste of fullers earth and water to the crayon mark. Let dry. Brush off. Repeat as needed. Use a leather conditioner for the leather.

Cloth Rub stained area with a clean cloth until removed.

5. Retail Stain Remover to remove crayon stains:

Cloth -- Spray or rub onto the crayon stain. Wait 3-5 minutes. Follow any other retail stain remover instructions.

6. Water to remove crayon stains:

Cloth Wash in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric.

7. Baking Soda to remove crayon stains:

My husband and I have been the primary caregivers for our grandson for the last three years. Ever since he was diagnosed with autism, weve been doing a lot of research. We had a general idea about what autism was, and wed definitely heard a lot about it in the news and in magazines. When it hit so close to home, we wanted to find out everything we could. Something that surprised us was the autistic disorder spectrumwe had no idea there were different kinds and levels of autism. There is so much to learn and considermany leading and respected doctors have different treatments and methods, and it takes some time to read through them, consider them, and decide which are best for our grandson.

I first started learning about the autistic disorder spectrum. Children diagnosed with autism are placed on the spectrum from Low Functioning to High Functioning based on the extent and the severity of the autistic trait or behavior. When I tell people that our grandson is autistic, one of the first things people ask me is, Where is he on the spectrum?

Certain behavior characteristics (and the extent of the behavior) are used to place children on the autistic disorder spectrum. Individuals with Lower Functioning Autism often exhibit typical autistic traits to the extreme, such as lack of social interaction, routine preference, and lack of verbal communication. Conversely, individuals with High Functioning Autism may show autistic-related traits in just a few areas in varying severity. We learned that Aspergers syndrome, which is a form of autism, is on the High Functioning end of the autistic disorder spectrum. One of our neighbors sons has Aspergers syndromeagain, wed heard of it, but didnt know it was related to autism. Individuals diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome, a High Functioning form of autism, display a lot of the traits associated with autism: repetitive behavior, peculiar speech, narrow interestsan inability to understand jokes, body language, and peculiar social behavior. Children who are diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome can improve over time, and often lead independent, successful lives.

I also learned that boys are diagnosed with autism on all parts of the autistic spectrum three times more than girls. Some experts claim its even higher than that. Im planning on digging up more facts related to autism and gender soon. As soon as I think Im done learning about autism or finished reading about new treatments, theres another aspect of the disorder I need to find out about, or a revolutionary new treatment Id like to research and try.

Learning all we can about the disease has helped us help our grandson. We already know so many techniques for dealing with autistic children and we have a lot more to try when he gets older. When we have a breakthrough using one of the new methods weve researched, its such an amazing and rewarding feeling. Its hard (if not impossible!) to change an autistic child, but so easy to learn everything you can and change your approach to raising and interacting with them.

The Pharmaceutical Drug Cartel and the FDA

According to the Los Angeles Times, the California Association of Physicians and Surgeons, and even the Center for Diseases Controls own admission, well over 100,000 people in this country die each year from properly administered prescription drugs. This is absolutely shocking!

One study has shown that more than two million American hospitalized patients suffered a serious adverse drug reaction (ADR) within a 12-month period and of these, over 100,000 died as a result. Likewise, roughly 36,000,000 adverse drug reactions are reported annually, resulting in more than 33.6-million admissions or hospitalizations all from drugs that the FDA has pronounced safe effective. The media is not doing a very good job of reporting this ADR crisis. Instead, we hear the constant media drumbeat about the dangers of firearms, which are currently politically incorrect yet represent a miniscule fraction of the deaths in this country. Doctors who want to politicize gun deaths should clean up their own glass houses first. The real crisis is the failing health care or more accurately described as the sick care system. There are numerous reasons for this crisis.

One reason is that conflicts of interest represent a very real problem for public servants and those entities which have relationships with various government agencies. Numerous researchers have reported that the FDA receives money from the very entities it is suppose to be regulating and one consequence of this is the suppression rather than advancement of disease cures. Consider the following:

According to a USA Today study, more than half of the experts hired to advise the government on the safety and effectiveness of medicine have financial relationships with the pharmaceutical companies that will be helped or hurt by their decisions. These experts are hired to advise the Food and Drug Administration on which medicines should be approved for sale, what the warning labels should say and how studies of drugs should be designed. The experts are supposed to be independent, but USA TODAY found that 54% of the time, they have a direct financial interest in the drug or topic they are asked to evaluate. These conflicts include helping a pharmaceutical company develop a medicine, then serving on an FDA advisory committee that judges the drug.

The conflicts typically include stock ownership, consulting fees or research grants.

Federal law generally prohibits the FDA from using experts with financial conflicts of interest, but according to the article, the FDA has waived the restriction more than 800 times since 1998. (1)

The corruption of undisclosed financial ties to the pharmaceutical companies by supposedly unbiased researchers along with the staggering cost involved in bringing new drugs to market, which conveniently eliminates competition from all but the cartel heavyweights has been sparingly reported in the mainstream press. Consider one exception to this silence:

In the book a World Without Cancer by G. Edward Griffin. Griffin describes the politics of cancer therapy, in which he blows the lid off the all powerful international chemical and drug cartel that has dominated the direction of health care since early in the Twentieth Century in the United States. Griffin argues that not only has the Rockefeller-Farben cartel (2) been instrumental in fostering chemical based drug treatment as the basis for health care and they have been the dominant adversary against safer non-drug treatments. If Griffin is correct, who is the FDA protecting and serving? Clearly, not the consumer!

It should be noted that pharmaceutical drugs have absolutely no nutritional value, and at best offer temporary relief of symptoms while doing nothing to address the root causes of disease. Additionally, pharmaceutical drugs should be used very carefully because of the toxicity factor also known as the LD50 rating. LD stands for "Lethal Dose" and LD50 is the amount of a drug, given, which causes the death of 50% of a group of laboratory test animals. Also, it is well known that drugs can damage the liver and kidneys.

Do not forget, as sited above, adverse drug reactions are responsible for over 100,000 deaths each year plus the pain and suffering for those lucky enough to survive an ADR. The way to good health does not necessarily include the ingestion of toxic chemicals. Likewise, the reason for disease is not that we are deficient or lacking in deadly debilitating pharmaceutical drugs. In many cases, disease is the result of nutritional deficiencies and the resulting weakening of the immune system.

The recent ongoing attempt to abolish and subvert the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994, which brought a measure of freedom back to consumers, in regards to their personal choices in the area of nutritional supplementation, should raise the ire of everyone who is concerned about their own health. This is an example of the pharmaceutical cartel and their political cronies within and along side of the FDA at work. Never forget, America is about freedom, especially freedom to make informed decisions concerning our own health care information, services we choose, our choice of treatments and products that we believe to be beneficial for our own health and wellbeing. The debate over which is better started as soon as the cordless arrived. Though there were praises also that came its way. People said that its altogether a new experience of talking without caring about wires. Complains about corded phones are also no less. First of which is the fact that it forces you to sit at a place and talk. People who wanted some privacy looked forward for a set which they can carry with themselves and talk whenever they felt so, away from the gazing eyes of mom and dad.

Thus, as far as debate over the superiority of cordless phones or corded phones are concerned, it can be said that cordless is the new and improved version of telephone which came into existence after all the shortcomings in the corded phones were taken care of and as such it is the improved and updated variety. However, it must be added that cordless is merely the extension of the traditional or the corded phones and therefore they cannot stand in competition with each other.

Does O'Neal Really Want to be Traded?

Jermaine O'Neal has spent his whole career, all ten seasons, with Indiana Pacers. He's had a pretty successful career there averaging 13.3 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game, and 1.8 blocks per game. However, these past few weeks, O'Neal hasn't really been sure want he wants to do or what team to play with for the rest of his career.

First, he says he wants to get traded to the LA Lakers and team up with Kobe and the gang.

While he was at Baron Davis's charity basketball game, he told the crowd and everybody else in the world that he wanted to be traded.

"It's time for me to move on," he said. "And the Lakers are the team I want Indiana to trade me to."

He then added this, making it clear that the Pacers were aware of his intentions.

"I love Indiana and the fans and we have a lot of nice young talent," he said, "but obviously [the Pacers are] in a situation now where they're rebuilding. I told them I can't be in a rebuilding mode right now. I'm at a point in my career where I can't wait another five years to contend. I'm not in a position physically to take in five years of losses and downtime."

There couldn't be any better news for a Laker fan. Could this really be a Bryant/O'Neal Duo, Part 2? Also, maybe getting O'Neal to the Lakers would help persuade Kobe to stay in LA. However, the Pacers have stalled a lot and keep asking for players who the Lakers aren't ready to give up.

"Larry Bird is a hard man to deal with," O'Neal said. "He tries to make unfair trades. He wants to gut a team, but the Lakers are trying to get over the hump. I want Indiana to benefit, but with some nice young players and draft picks. I want to make it clear that I don't want to gut a team that I come to because then it'll be like I'm in Indiana all over again.

"If things don't work, I have an option in my contract next year and I will opt out and become a free agent."

An O'Neal to the Lakers would also help Jermaine, as he has always been a superstar, but he hasn't had a team that could make it all the way in the playoffs. He is still missing that elusive first ring; the jewelry that Kobe and the newly acquired Fisher already have three off.

O'neal and Bryant have also been playing ball together for a very long time. When they were 15, they played AAU together. Also, they entered the NBA during the same draft.

So it seems that a trade to LA is really what O'Neal would want and wants. But the plot thickens...

In an interview with a writer from the Pacers official homepage, this question was asked: Where do you want to be in 2007-2008?

O'Neal replied by saying, "I want to be here. I want to be a Pacer. All along, my concern has been the well-being of the team. Obviously, we haven't had the type of years we would expect for quite a few reasons. We've had a lot of distractions. But I have a lot of respect for this city and I hear where they're coming from, as far as wanting a winner."

He then goes on to say that he has talked to Don Walsh and Larry Bird about the future of the team. Also, he says that he doesn't that the Pacers are rebuilding because they havnt made any blockbuster trades.

Also, he says that his comments have been misinterpreted by the media and added, "said if the Pacers were to go in another direction and move me to either one of those teams, I would accept a trade with L.A. or New Jersey, if that's what they wanted to do. What they did was dissect it and say, 'Jermaine wants out of Indy.' I don't want out of Indy. I've told them time and time again I want the best situation for the Pacers. I want to be here. I want to be able to retire here, and I want to retire here as a champion."

So what can the average fan make of the events the past few days? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I mean, it's almost like he's pulling a Kobe Byant on us. One minute, he's saying that he wants out of Indiana. The next, he's saying that he wants to stay.

In my opinion, I say that he ends up staying in Indiana, and if they can't get anything done during this season, he will explore the free agent waters during the next offseason. But that guess is just a shot in the dark.

The only thing we as fans can do is wait as the story unfolds.

However, even when adjusted for this effect, the statistics still show a slight edge to states with higher limits. A better approach to accident prevention should probably focus on two areas that lead to many serious auto accidents: driver distractions and age. Cell phones are becoming the biggest distraction, and more and more states are banning their use by the driver while the vehicle is in motion. Driver age has an interesting correlation with car accidents that cause injuries and deaths. At both ends of the spectrum, ages 16-20 and 70+, a much higher percentage of accidents occur than with other age ranges. Accident prevention based on the drivers age is not easily implemented, but calls by the public and advocacy groups are on the increase. Some suggestions include mandatory driver education courses, annual driver examinations to reassess abilities, and even a magnetic sticker or decal on all cars driven by a person falling into either age demographic. The latter entails the idea that alerting other drivers will increase their defensive driving attention, reducing the frequency of accidents.

Bodybuilding: Big Calves Without High Rep Sets

"Get big calves with only 10 sets of 20 repetitions every other day". Just imagine the amount of time required for that program! Unfortunately many calf-training articles preach ridiculously high-repetition sets and training frequencies in comparison to routines for most other muscles. Granted, the calves are a difficult muscle group to increase in muscle mass, BUT/ there is no evidence to support the notion that the muscles respond better to high-repetition and light load training.

Alternatively, some people completely neglect the calves in their training routines. Obviously this is not the way to go either. The calves are a very large and strong muscle group and are important in bodybuilding and many athletic events. If you improve your calf strength you will be stronger in other standing leg exercises such as the lunge, squat, and step-up. Furthermore, the large muscle mass of this muscle group makes it essential to include in any metabolic-weightlifting programs designed to increase the metabolism and reduce body fat. Everyone in the gym will benefit by giving the calves some work!

The calf area is composed of two muscles, the underlying soleus and the prominent gastrocnemius (it is the gastrocnemius that most people traditionally identify as the "calf" muscle). Muscle biopsies of these muscles reveal both to be generally higher in T-I or "slow-twitch" (ST) muscle fibers. The gastrocnemius averages ~60% ST fibers and the soleus ~75% ST fibers in comparison to the 50% ST fiber composition of the vastus lateralis (quadriceps) or 30-40% ST composition in the triceps brachii.

These differences in NO way support calf-training programs to require the extreme workout prescriptions presently recommended by other trainers. Fast-twitch fibers have repeatedly been shown to have a greater potential to hypertrophy (get bigger) and the best way to recruit the FT fibers is with a high-intensity load. As well, the gastrocnemius can hardly be considered a slow-twitch muscle as only about 60% of its fibers are ST and in elite sprinters the ST proportion may be as low as 25%!

Calf training, like strength training and bodybuilding for any other muscle group, requires the correct application of basic strength training principles in order to add muscle mass to the area. The basic function of the "calf" is to plantar flex the ankle (raise the heels off the ground and support the body weight on the balls of the feet), so we simply must overload it in this position.

"Overload" is the most important concept: you must demand more of your muscles than they are regularly accustomed to and in response the muscle will adapt by growing and becoming stronger.

The problem is that most athletes and bodybuilders forget the overload principle and end up failing in their calf training attempts by continuing to train with countless repetitions and an intensity that is too low. Remember that muscle growth occurs in response to the intensity of the stimulus imposed. More specifically, the muscle grows in response to lifting a heavy load for a sufficient number of repetitions. I therefore suggest the number of repetitions be reduced and the magnitude of the weight increased. The muscle fibers are not going to respond and grow if the load is too light!

As far as calf-training exercises go, don't concentrate on the seated calf raise. This does not provide the optimal stimulus for the gastrocnemius, but rather for the smaller, deeper soleus muscle. You want your calf exercises to require plantar flexion with only a slight bend at the knee joint. This will ensure the optimal recruitment of the larger and more prominent gastrocnemius.

Let's take a look at a "high-intensity, moderate-volume" training program...You will be sore for a couple of days after this workout, BUT/ more importantly, your calf muscles will be stimulated for growth not endurance!

Single-leg calf-raise

* hold DB in hand and support yourself with other hand

* perform on platform and allow heal to drop as far as possible

* do 3 sets of 6-8 repetitions for each leg with no rest between sets

Leg press calf-raise

* place only the balls of the feet on the bottom end of the leg press platform

* contract the calf muscles to plantar flex the ankle

* do a set using a weight that allows 10 repetitions, then quickly remove 20% of the weight and perform another set to failure (X), then quickly remove 10% percent of that weight and perform the third "drop-set" to failure (X)

* rest 1-2 minutes

* repeat for a second "drop-set"

Eccentric machine calf-raise

* use either a standing OR angled calf-raise machine (OR continue to use the leg press)

* set the pin at weight that can be comfortably lifted with both legs

* perform the concentric phase with both legs (plantar flex the ankles), BUT/ use only one leg to lower the weight to the starting position

* alternate between legs and perform 6 eccentric reps for each side

* quickly reduce the weight by 10% and perform 6 more eccentric reps for each side

* continue for a third set if desired (yeah right!)

Nano Particle Tech Uses for Molybdenum

Finally, the financial markets have caught on as to how hot molybdenum stocks could get. While we began researching molybdenum about a year ago, and only first publishing in July 2006, molybdenum commentator Ken Reser has practically been the lone voice in the moly wilderness for investors. (We understand there have been several tout sheets hyping molybdenum stocks for nearly as long, but we cant include those in serious discussions about this metal.)

Now that molybdenum traders have grown more bullish about the metal, we expect molybdenum pricing to continue higher. Ferro moly prices have continued firming up. Some quantity is now selling at US$76 per kg in Europe. One report indicates a recent moly oxide sale at $33/pound.

The emergence of the Sprott Molybdenum Participation Fund might only suggest the beginning of stronger institutional interest in primary molybdenum producers and on-the-horizon molybdenum producers those whose projects could be online by 2010 or sooner.

In March 2005, Ken Reser penned a short editorial entitled, Molybdenum: The 21st Century & Beyond Metal.

Mainstream analysts had not really bothered to investigate the numerous uses for molybdenum prior to Ken Resers discussion. Since then, molybdenum stocks have had an incredible run. Mainstream media, such as Canadas Globe & Mail, Dow Jones MarketWatch, The Australian and Londons Daily Telegraph have featured molybdenum in their articles and named some of the favored companies.

What many thought was fiction Reser preached, more than two years ago, are ideas now at the forefront of mainstream discussions among highly respected analysts. The International Molybdenum Association (IMOA) should be thankful Ken Reser attracted such a high level of investor interest to the moly mining sector over the past two years.

Well, the pioneer is alive and well. Ken Reser has more insights into molybdenums future. And we invited Ken to publish them in his commentary below.

Ken Resers Commentary

Little attention has been given to a few other aspects of this metal of mystery, in a world growing and changing so rapidly. I have little doubt there are more than a few uses of moly. New discoveries are waiting in the wings.

One case in point is Nano-Particle technology involving molybdenum.

American Elements Corp; The US leading manufacturer of Rare Earth & Advanced Material products had this to say about Nano-Particle Molybdenum:

Molybdenum Oxide (MoO) Nano-powder or Nano-particles, nano-dots or nano-crystals are ferric and ferrous spherical or faceted high surface area oxide magnetic nanostructure particles. Nano-scale Molybdenum Oxide Particles are typically 20-80 nanometers (nm) with specific surface area (SSA) in the 10 - 50 m 2 /g range and also available in with an average particle size of 100 nm range with a specific surface area of approximately 7- 10 m 2 /g.

Nano Molybdenum Oxide Particles are also available in ultra high purity, and high purity, transparent, and coated and dispersed forms. . Applications for Molybdenum Oxide Nano-crystals include in electrochemical capacitors, and in coatings, plastics, nano-wire, nano-fiber and textiles and in certain alloy and catalyst applications. Further research is being done for their potential electrical, dielectric, magnetic, optical, imaging, bio-medical and bioscience properties.

Applications for molybdenum nano-crystals include as a high surface area catalyst and catalyst support and as the catalysts in the synthesis of vertically aligned carbon nano-tubes and in coatings, plastics, nano-wire, nano-fiber and textiles and in certain alloy and catalyst applications.

Super Alloys Created by use of Nano-Particle Reactants

Advancements in nano-technology for material processing have spurred the development of super alloys that provide improved protection against corrosion and wear. Nano-scale reactant particles offer unique thermal properties and increased homogeneity that may improve the micro-structural features and macroscopic properties of the final product.

In this study up to 10-wt % nano-scale molybdenum tri-oxide (MoO3) particles were added to micron scale nickel (Ni) and aluminum (Al). Results show that adding MoO3 increases the flame temperature and produces greater ignition sensitivity produces a more homogeneous microstructure and increases the overall wear resistance of the product.

Some other uses of nano-particle molybdenum include integrated in paraffin, lubricants, ceramics, nuclear reactor fuel (low enriched uranium), propylene production, high temperature grease, optical fibers, plasma televisions, fuel cells, and much more.

Hollow sphere nano-moly particles now developed show greatly increased effectiveness in the bonding ability of de-sulphurization catalysts. Solar cells are now built on a backing of molybdenum foil. Nano-particle pigment coatings, glass works, dietary and medical products, including artificial limbs.

Weldability of nickel-based superalloys can be approved with weld filler. The invention relates to weld filler which includes these constituents (in wt %): 17.5%-20.0% chromium (Cr), 10.0%-12.0% cobalt (Co), 9.0%-10.5% Molybdenum (Mo) and 0.1%-3.3% titanium.

Hydro De-Sulphurization Catalysts

The unique HDS (Hydro De-Sulphurization) Catalyst aspect of this approach is to use nano-sized MoS2 particles for two reasons:

1.Nano-sizing increases surface area and therefore the number of "active-edge sites" per unit catalyst volume

2.Amorphous nano-particles may overcome steric resistance in sulfur-containing large aromatic molecules making the sulfur susceptible to catalytic attack during HDS.

This approach has three aspects:

Characterization of sterically hindered organic sulfur compounds that are typically present in crudes but resistant to conventional HDS catalysts,

Reaction behavior of these sterically hindered sulfur compounds with nano-sized MoS

Formulation and evaluation of supported nano MoS2-based system for ultra deep catalytic HDS of heavy oils and distillates.

Worldwide, many millions of pounds of molybdenum are annually used in refineries. New refineries are now under construction in Asia, and on the drawing board in various other parts of the world.

Fuel Cells and Batteries

By alloying molybdenum with platinum, and carefully controlling the particle size and loading level of the alloy particles, engineers from the E-Tek Division of De Nora, N.A. have developed Pt-based anode catalysts for polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells that show excellent resistance to carbon monoxide poisoning.

APS Physics (March 2007) comments on Nano-Structured Molybdenum Oxides for Lithium-Ion Batteries:

Lithium-ion batteries are the current power sources of choice for portable electronics. Although such batteries are commercially successful, they are not keeping pace with the rapid advances in computing technologies. Also, further improvement of performance and simultaneous reduction in cost as well as material toxicity remain the subject of intensive research.

Here we report the synthesis and electrochemical performance of a novel molybdenum oxide nano-particle anode that dramatically improves current Li-ion battery technologies. Crystalline MoO nano-particles have been grown by an economical hot-wire chemical-vapor-deposition (HWCVD) technique and a recently developed electrophoresis technique is employed for the fabrication of porous nano-particle anodes. Both cycling stability and rate capability issues are addressed by employing these porous molybdenum oxide films that consist of nano-scale active particles.

These materials will impact the next generations of rechargeable lithium batteries, not only for applications in consumer electronics, but also for clean energy storage and use in hybrid electric vehicles.

More Nano-Particle Uses

Other new uses include development of new molybdenum- (Nano-Particle) strengthened martensitic steels and other Super Alloys. It is also possible to fabricate large-area porous films of molybdenum oxide nano-particles using a novel electrophoresis deposition technique.

Nano-particle films have led to profound advancement in state-of-the-art electrochromic technologies. MoO films are promising for new lithium ion batteries. There are many newly discovered uses as well for nano particle molybdenum in ION space thrusters, space lubricants, space craft metals and even in space telescopes searching the heavens.

Although molybdenum-based catalysts have already been developed for use in the crude oil refinery process and coal liquefaction, the greatest leaps forward could come from the development of nano particle moly-based Catalysts.

Drilling every deep-depth oil well uses as much as 15% Molybdenum for every pound of drill stem steel. Considering the massive number of pounds (tons actually) of drill stem tubing annually used around the globe, Im sure we would be amazed when extrapolating the actual amount of molybdenum used in just that one sector.

If you also consider that just one kilometer of typical crude oil pipeline uses approximately 2000 pounds of molybdenum in the steel, and there are globally between 80,000 and 100,000 miles of proposed pipeline projects, one can easily visualize the exponential growth pattern of moly demand in years ahead.

As I have stated in past, now you can see why the world is viewing molybdenum in a different light. It isnt just the demand from China, India or other rapidly developing nations driving the demand, the price and the different uses.

Molybdenum is truly a metal for and of the twenty-first century. It will play an ever increasingly important part of future base metals demand. And this could very well prove a boon to primary molybdenum mining stocks. Many have strongly rallied in the past year as molybdenum prices went north, instead of south as many 'experts' forecast.

Primary molybdenum producer Thomson Creek, imminent producer Roca Mines, and near-term producers such as Adanac Molybdenum Corp, Idaho General and Australian-based Moly Mines appear to be the investor favorites for 2007.

Recently XM Satellite Radio has claimed to have over 3 million subscribers paying $9.99 per month and Sirius claims to have over 1.3 million customers paying $12.95 per month. Many of those customers pay an additional $2.99 per month for premium content such as the upcoming Howard Stern Show.

Several normal radio stations and media outlets are realizing the potential to get their message across in a broad fashion. XM has launched a morning show, which is hosted by Bob Edwards, whom was fired earlier this year by National Public Radio. "The Bob Edwards Show" will air on a public satellite radio channel that also features news and programs from Public Radio International, among others. Sirius has its own public radio channel carrying NPR programs. Consumers and companies are demanding free speech and it seems that satellite radio is the vehicle.

XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio have designed satellite broadcast systems that differ but they achieve the same high quality of satellite radio. A milestone of this success is the fact that satellite radio signals that are available across the United States and into Mexico and Canada. Rock and Roll No its not a genre any more! XM Satellite Radio has two satellites named Rock and Roll, which remain in parallel geostationary orbit to provide radio coverage throughout the United States. Sirius and XM both have disk jockeys that manage, create and program music which is then sent up to the satellites. The information is then taken in by the satellites and sent through a rebroadcast of the streams to earth. The Major advantage of this is that, unlike earth-based radio stations whose signals reach listeners 150 miles away, satellite radio signals have a huge reach, and are receivable anywhere within the continental United States and hundreds of miles in each direction of the borders. Satellite Radio is growing to become a worldwide network and offerings are growing throughout the world. XM satellite radio and Sirius satellite radio are making it happen.

As I typed the heading for this article I accidently made a typo and spelt GOLD instead of GOLF. I chuckled momentarily and considered leaving it. But seriously health benefits from any activity are actually like "GOLD".

Playing golf really addresses the six major areas of human endeavour in just one area. The physical, mental, spiritual, social, work, community.

Physical

Just the very fact that you go out and take in a round of either 9 or 18 holes gives you a fantastic work out. The walking along is a great benefit - not to mentioned all the bending and stretching along the way.

Doctors usually recommend at least 20 minutes a day. A 9 hole round would take a lot more than 20 minutes so even if you play golf just once a week you should be well in front.

If you are not able to walk the distance and have to take a golf cart even the body stretching and the bending have got to be of value.

Mental

The mental strength you have to have to play a game of golf is well know amongst golfers. Many people say that it is the most frustrating game but that being the case it would allow you to be completely "in the moment" and not dwell on problems in another area of your life. Grief Does Not Have To Be A Life Sentence - You Are Allowed To Be Happy Again!

As a widowed person, I feel I have a license to say the following. It is not meant to diminish anyones grief, but to say in a light way that one is not expected to wear the title of widowed around ones neck like a noose.

There are those who are made to feel they must remain forever loyal to a spouse who has passed on. They continue to wear a wedding ring years after the passing. Others refuse to move the spouses favorite piece of furniture or leave pictures and other memorabilia in a certain location in the home, because thats where it has always been.

"What would people think?"

Some have a feeling of guilt about giving away closets full of clothes that someone else could make good use of, long after the grief has been put to rest. Other items that were the possessions of their loved one are dust collectors. Some feel moving on in their lives is wrong, even though the grieving has been laid to rest and they have accepted that their loved one is not coming back. Guilt causes them to feel they are being disloyal if they have desires of wanting the companionship of the opposite sex.

I am not suggesting that everyone who loses a spouse will want to create a new family environment after a certain amount of time has passed. There are those who are perfectly happy being on their own. Some find that they are alone, but do not feel lonely. In fact, they would say, It feels good!

Being selfish is not selfish! Taking care of ones self is a good thing. And the one thing that most widowed people forget is that their spouse would not want them to spend their remaining years drifting along, waiting for life to be over with. If my dead spouse were so vindictive as to expect me to just suffer and remain in limbo for the rest of my days, Id be dancing on cars just for the spite of it, (just joking.)

Grief is a natural response to feeling the loss of a loved one, but grief need not be a life sentence!

Flying Cars Where Are They?

For over half a century, the vision of flying cars has captured the science fiction imagination in books, movies, and commercials. At face value, the idea of a car lifting off the ground and soaring through the air is a wonderful dream, but there are more than a few caveats to making them a widely distributed reality. As people sit in traffic jams across the country, more than a few people have wished they could simply rise up off the ground and zoom past the tangled ground based transportation system.

Our current system of transportation includes planes, so why not convert automobiles for low level flight as well? On close examination, the idea of flying cars goes way beyond the engineering limitations. Todays traffic is centered on using roads and highways as directive paths for managing transportation. For our machines that are capable of flight, there are rules about altitude, flying over cities, and controlling traffic in existing air space. Automobiles equipped for flight would change the entire dynamic of the current industry, causing our society to rethink support systems like tires, brakes, engines, roads, fuel, and safety. With the horrendous accidents already taking place using a two dimensional lane changing system, just imagine the nightmare of figuring out how to regulate traffic in three dimensional space, adding the vertical aspects of watching out for crazy drivers who are trying to fly and talk on their cell phones.

A practical auto flight plan would need to be tightly controlled with new rules about vertical lane changes, intersections, traffic flow, and controlled right of way. Taking a car accident off the ground would almost certainly increase the fatality rate of even minor accidents at an astronomically increased rate. Entirely new systems for air traffic control would have to be invented and instituted.

The prospect of driving in a practical automobile based flight system is not likely to take place in this century or the next. Our technology is not advanced enough to put the prospect of aerial navigation into the hands of the average driver, anywhere in this world. It would be a pretty safe bet to assume that you will not be getting off the ground in a car within the foreseeable future. If science fiction writers want to project the future of our commute to work, they had better stick with ground based systems or teleportation devices as the means most likely to be found in our future. At least with teleportation, the advent of this new technology would have a greater potential for changing the face of transportation methods almost over night, using a single new technology to accomplish a real transformation of our society.

Take Control of Your Aging Health

When you become an aging baby boomer the last thing you want to experience is the side effects. The stiff joints, aching low back, fatigue and memory problems starting to creep up out of no where. The ability to multi task is slowly diminishing. The ease of bending to put on your socks and shoes and forget womens pantyhose is a distant memory. You look in the mirror and wonder how you got here.

So stop right there. Take back control of your life. Some think it is easier said than done. Not so, take it one step at a time. Health over fifty becomes your own personal responsibility. What you eat is just as important (if not more) now than twenty years ago. Just because you strayed from eating properly until now doesnt mean you should give up and just rely on medicine. You can find better ways to eat, exercise for your ability and eliminate some of those bad habits. Turn your life into a new hobby and put the failure thoughts out in the trash.

Instead of trying to tackle all aspects of your life, try one step in each category per week and let your motivation to succeed take over. Each week do one more positive thing to improve the enjoyment of the age you are. If you sit and whine about where you used to be those moments of now will pass you by. Youre not going to get younger in chronological aging but you can get more youthful in your movements, looks, thoughts and health issues. Here are 10 Simple steps you can do starting today:
1.Park your car 3 spaces farther away than you do now and walk.
2.Eat fish 1 more meal per week than you do already.
3.Do stretching exercises or yoga (lots of discomfort feels like bone but is tight muscles.)
4.Add 2 glasses of water per day to get closer to your needed body amount of at least 8 8 ounce glasses per day.
5.Eliminate the starch from one meal of your diet and exchange it for vegetables and fruits.
6.Drink 1 less alcoholic drink than you normally do.
7.Lower your cigarette smoking by 1 cigarette less each day until you can quit.
8.Forgive yourself or someone else of a wrongful deed.
9.Compliment yourself for doing 5 positive things for yourself each day before bed.
10.Get to bed at a decent time to achieve 7 to 8 hours of sleep.late shows on TV can wait for weekends or use the recorder to watch at a better hour.

Health over fifty does not need to be a chore. Do something to improve your life. Smile at the reflection in the mirror and you will start to smile at others as well. Your life isnt just about everyone else and their needs. Your health, youthfulness, flexibility and quality is about you and what you are willing to do for the most important person in your lifeyou.

When buying a used boat for the very first time most people will agree that it is better to buy your first boat through a dealer who has a good/sturdy reputation. If you have not bought a boat before it is hard to be trust the private sellers and their so-called deals.

No matter where you buy your used boat or who from, there are some things that you need to be aware of ahead of time.

History of Boat Maintenance: Request for a history of the maintenance/repairs so you can find out what much work has been done to it in the last few months. It will also let you know that the owner has been keeping up with looking after it. Get the name of who made the repairs on the used boat and ask them what future work will need to be done on it in the future.

Boat Inspection: Have a marine mechanic do a boat inspection before buying the boat the used boat Sure it can be an expensive testing but it saves a lot of grief later on. If you decided to inspect the boat yourself then should at least check the spark arrestors and plugs, the alternator, belts, hoses, strainer, blower, shift cables and engine alignment

Hull Condition: Checking the condition of the hull of a used boat is important. You need to check for mismatched paint, gel blisters, dry rot, and holes. Walk around the boat, tapping on the hull all over to make sure the wood/material is solid.

Propeller of Used Boat Look at the propeller. Are there cracks or nicks? Is it bent or warped? All these things and affect the efficiency of the propeller.

Boat Storage: Find out if the boat was stored inside or outside when nobody was using it. The best storage is dry but if it is outside and well-kept, then that is alright too.

Upholstery: Look for signs of the colour fading and ripped seams.

Boat Extras: If you ask if anything else comes with the boat, you will be often surprised what extras the boat owner has to give you.

Boat Appraisal Guides: Look for the boat that you want to buy in your local boat appraisal guide or N.A.D.A. The Guide will let you know if the boat you want to buy is at the current market value. If the value is lower than in the guide, you need to ask the owner why is he is selling the used boat for less than the book value. See of his answer makes sense. Who knows, you may have found yourself a really good deal.

When buying a used boat or used car, you really need to know what you want and how much you want to spend on it. Try to not let emotions get in the way.

Traveling on the Road with Boat: Last but not least, is your vehicle strong enough to pull the boat on a trailer? I have seen too many cars that try to pull an over sized boat behind them up steep hills and they just did not make it to the top. Teenage Independence - What Do You Do When They Leave The Nest?

I envy those mothers blessed with highly efficient offspring, who keep their rooms perfectly clean and ordered and who find Saturday jobs as soon as they reach the age of fifteen without being bribed, and who display such an independent streak, their parents never have a day's worry about how they will survive in the big, bad world.

I am not one of those parents. I am one of those who excavate skull pendants and safety pin necklaces from the washing machine filter, along with the occasional banana skin or a bracelet made from ring pulls. My nerves are hardened to a steely shell built over years of finding strange and alien items under my childs bed, not to mention three years worth of empty cups and glasses, the unimaginable remains of which are still adhering to the edges of the plates and solidified to a concrete like crust. Lovely!

I am the stolid survivor of a phone call from the school to say would I ask my daughter to refrain from drawing three dimensional penises on her jeans. She had drawn them with such consummate skill they appeared to be leaping out of her back pocket; I was assured by a scandalized deputy headmistress.

I am one of those irresponsible creatures who will still lend a tenner to a naughty eighteen year old who has blown two weeks allowance on clothes and wants to go to the movies. The wisest parent would, of course, refuse further funds until better sense was being shown, but I prefer the saying you are only young once to look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. This last font of wisdom obviously originated with someone who has never met my daughter. Paper money runs away like water and pennies get left in your jeans pockets and eventually go in the washing machine everyone knows that!

What, I ask myself, panic stricken, is she going to do when faced with her first utility bill, or her first mortgage payment? Will she even read it? Will she shove it under the bed, site of her favored filing system since she was about eight years old? Will she lock herself out of her accommodation on her first night and be stranded, at the mercy of passers by and any lurking villain? Will she remember to lock the door at all?

My dearest girl is not one of those to whom maturity has come easily. Lifes responsibilities have always been to her a bit of a drag; much better to scoot out the door and head for the beach with a crowd of friends than iron next weeks laundry, let it wait till tomorrow. Well, why not indeed. The problem is, the same pile of ironing is still waiting for her attention three months down the calendar and her bedroom resembles a bomb site.

Now that this lovely, affectionate, sunny child is ready to fly the nest, how will I survive without her tread on the stair, or the sound of her trying to break into the house at two in the morning when she has forgotten her key? Who will drive me mad with requests for rides to town when she is gone? And how will I heal my poor breaking heart if any harm comes to her?

Networking Online - Marketing Made Easy

Networking and making business contacts is one of the toughest aspects of running a home-based business, but also one of the most successful to develop your business. One must constantly find creative ways to meet new people and introduce them to your product. If you are working from home with small children around this becomes even more difficult. Networking online may be the answer.

There are several ways to network online. One of the most inexpensive is to visit message boards (for an example of a message board, visit http://www.cwahm.com/messageboard ). You can register on message boards for free and post about your products, business or any topic on the board that interests you. This is a good way to meet other Christians who also work from home and to develop Christian business relationships.

It may also be possible to become a moderator on one of the message boards that you join. A moderator is usually in charge of one forum and helps to generate conversation; delete posts that may not belong in the forum and answer any questions people my have about the forum/topic. This is a win-win situation for both you and the message board owner. They are receiving help in maintaining their message board and you are making contacts and building relationships.

Another way to make business contacts online is through networking websites such as Ryze (http://www.ryze.com). On Ryze, you can create your own page describing yourself and your business. You can also join various networks and meet people virtually who may be interested in your product or business. This not only allows you to build business relationships, but friendships as well. There are many Christian networks on Ryze, such as the Christian Business Womens Network (CBWN). The CBWN network exists to bring Christian women together to help one another succeed in the work at home world.

For a small fee you can also create your own network on Ryze. If you have a unique product or business opportunity, it may benefit you to create a network where others can come to find information. You may also use a network to create a community environment if you have a team of people that you support in your work-at-home business. Your team can work together and find information easily all in one place.

Kelly McCausey, host of Women by Grace Radio, had this to say about Ryze, Ryze has been an incredible source of networking for me. I have made at least two of my most valuable business relationships on the networks there. I enjoy the variety of possibilities and the ease of making connections.

There are also networking groups on websites like Yahoo, Google and MSN. You can search for groups on these sites by topic and join for free. There are countless Christian groups as well as work-at-home networks to be found on these sites. These groups generally are email based, so you will receive emails from the group that will be formatted similarly to Message Board posts. This allows you the flexibility to read them when you have the time and choose the topics that interest you from the subject line. Many groups will allow you to place ads and generate conversation about your home-based business. Just check their guidelines before posting and watch the group a couple days before becoming active. You can then get a general feel for how that group works.

Another way to network and build relationships online is to visit blogs. You can search for Christian blogs or blogs that may relate to your product or service. Take the time to read some of the blog entries and leave a comment for the blog owner with your website address. Blogging is a great new trend in the work-at-home world and many people are learning to blog as a way to increase awareness of their business.

One very important, and often overlooked, way to make online contacts is to include your business name and website address in the signature of every email that you send. This makes people aware of your business and allows them to easily visit your website. Including your website link (and maybe a catchy slogan also) will catch the readers eye and give them easy access to your website. If you send emails 15 times during a day that is 15 more people that you have marketed your business to. An email signature is also a way to ensure that your current customers can effortlessly find your website. It is important that customers can find your website with minimal searching and an email signature is one of the easiest ways to achieve this.

Networking online is a great way to meet people without having to leave your home. The internet is one of the best resources available to home-based business owners. Once you have an idea of how and where to network online you will be well on your way to a successful new form of marketing.

Lake Trout and Their Unique Qualities

Lake trout are a type of fish that are completely different then any other fish. Those that like to go lake trout fishing, know that they are difficult to catch. Unless you know just how to do so, well, your chances are small of actually getting one. Lake trout fish are the ones everyone wants though as their size can be enormous! Lake trout fishing is a great type of fishing, but you will need the knowledge of these fish before you begin to fish them.

There are many unique qualities to lake trout. One of the most important is their size. The record weight for lake trout is over 102 pounds! Imagine bringing that in! The average weight depends on what the fish eats. Those lake trout that can benefit from being in a lake with ciscoes, smelt or sculpins will grow to large sizes. These lake trout are called Siscowets or fat trout. Those that don't have this variety of small fish to eat, will eat plankton, insects, and crustaceans. Obviously, this fish is not going to weigh nearly as much.

Another unique characteristic of the lake trout is where they live. Like other trout, they enjoy well oxygenated, cold, and clear water. But to find the quality of this type of water that they need, the lake trout like to live deep. Different times of the year will bring them to different levels in the water. During the cold, winter months, you can find lake trout in 20 feet or less of water. But, in the summer months, they like to be in 50-100 feet deep water. In fact, the Siscowets go much farther down to 500 feet! It is because of this depth that lake trout enjoy that keep lake trout fishing a difficult type.

While lake trout are found in much of western and northern United States and Canada, because they live so far down that you will need to do some bottom fishing using rigs to bring that fish up. And, the battle will be a long, hard fought one at that! Do enjoy your lake trout fishing.

Wedding Planner's Nightmare

Staging a wedding is stressful, especially for a professional planner. Wedding planners are tasked with the challenge of making dreams come true on one of the most important days in two peoples lives. There are so many details that must be attended to and so many people to rely on to make it happen. While the wedding itself is often a mixture of pageantry, whimsy, and tradition, the real drama can sometimes take place behind the scenes.

Wedding planners have to be logistical wizards. They must mesh the services of multiple vendors and attend to intricate details with each one, all while adhering to the happy couples vision and budget for their perfect day. Caterers, musicians, event location staff, transportation service, and florists are just a few of the service providers involved in the big event. Each vendor must deliver impeccable, error-free service, on time and in the right place.

One often overlooked detail that is key to a trouble-free wedding party is the dance floor. Imagine for a moment that you have attended to every detail and wish of the bride and groom. You found a florist who had the right shade of roses to match the brides eye shadow, the baker has re-created the Eiffel Tower in excruciating detail, and the happy couple will say I Do just as the sun sets over the horizon. The wedding has gone exactly as planned and the reception is now in full swing. You finally allow yourself to breathe normally as you watch the guests happily dancing on the beautiful wood floor. Hypnosis Solutions to Sexual Challenges

"My girlfriend dumped me because she says I 'wasn't there' when we made love. She's not the first to say this. I know something's wrong. Can hypnotherapy help me?"

You hold yourself back from entering a trance state; you have difficulty "letting go."

There are several ways in which a qualified hypnotherapist can help you to conquer this problem. Before using hypnosis it is essential that you receive competent medical advice.

Hypnotherapy will have a particular focus depending on whether the problem is organic or psychological.

Organic sexual problems require medical intervention. Hypnotherapy may be used as an adjunct, for instance, in helping you to heal faster after an operation.

More frequently, sexual difficulties treated by a hypnotherapist concern psychological issues.

Since the process deals with your mind all sexual activity during hypnotherapy takes place only in your imagination.

What you learn through hypnotherapy is practiced privately elsewhere.

They'd been married three years and had had sexual difficulties since the birth of their daughter eight months previously. Charles was afraid he'd been embarrassed once again if he tried to make love.

"Kim laughed at me the first time and now she just gives me a look of disgust." Why? Because he couldn't maintain an erection.

Charles felt humiliated and frustrated; he worried that he'd never again have satisfactory sex with his wife. His dream of fathering a son seemed unattainable.

He told the hypnotherapist that he had no problem masturbating when alone. This was a likely indicator that Charles' problem was psychological, not organic.

As was Charles' report that he always had a firm erection when having sex with the occasional housewife in whose home he was doing electrical work.

To be on the safe side, the hypnotherapist advised Charles to be examined by a medical specialist to be absolutely sure there was no organic cause for his ED.

The doctor confirmed that Charles' trouble was "100 per cent psychogenic," meaning that for some emotional or psychological reason, he could not maintain an erection.

Of course, the more Charles tried, and the more he worried, the more flaccid was his penis.

The hypnotherapist explained to Charles that hypnosis could be used to uncover the cause of his trouble, or to tackle the symptom, or both.

Charles, being the impatient type, and of course eager to end his humiliating experiences, opted for the "quick fix."

Over the course of three sessions of hypnotherapy, Charles relived successful love-making episodes from his younger years as a Navy "stud."

Then the therapist used a melding technique to encourage Charles to see himself (in his imagination, while hypnotized) from now on once again enjoying a full, firm erection well beyond the time needed to satisfy his partner.

Positive suggestions were also made by the hypnotherapist to Charles about his prowess, his confidence and his desirability to his wife.

For three months Charles and Kim had a wonderful sex life. Then he lost an erection just as foreplay had become hot and heavy.

Kim, hurt and disappointed, reacted with sarcasm. All Charles' fears and anxieties rushed back. He returned to the hypnotherapist.

This time Charles agreed to investigate the cause of his impotence.

The hypnotherapist used various approaches -- age regression, age progression (in which the "future" Charles was to explain how he'd conquered the problem) analogue symbolic imagery -- but nothing worked.

In a subsequent session, with Charles relaxed in hypnosis, the therapist told Charles he'd have a dream. His subconscious would provide this dream as a way, either directly or symbolically, to explain the origin of his impotence.

Three nights later Charles dreamed he was outside a factory. It was night time and the factory loomed dark and mysterious.

Charles felt a strong urge to scale the steel fence that surrounded the factory. Then he tried to find away in. All the doors were shut and padlocked. A security guard ("very scary, because he had my face," said Charles) told him to go away.

But Charles persisted in his eagerness to enter the factory. He ran from the guard, to the back of the building. Here was the loading dock. Charles saw a bulldozer there. He jumped into its cab and began to operate the controls.

The guard reappeared, feebly told Charles to get off the property, to go to his own place. In the distance, Charles could see a stately castle which he somehow knew belonged to him.

But his only interest was in the dark factory. The guard shrugged. Charles started up the bulldozer and charged the heavy machine toward the small back door of the factory.

As the bulldozer began to rumble forward, Charles awoke -- with a massive erection.

The dream puzzled Charles. But it enlightened the therapist. To him it revealed that Charles was in the grip of the Madonna/Whore complex.

This is the attitude that divides women into "good" and "bad." Thus, a man's wife and especially mother, are "good." Prostitutes, other men's wives and and women of ethnic groups other than the man's own, are "bad."

"Bad" women are exciting; "good" women are boring. Sex is forbidden with "good" women but possible with the "bad."

A man with this complex may have sex with his wife occasionally, or until she becomes a mother, or while a post-hypnotic suggestion lasts. But his heart is not in it. Neither is his penis.

However, with a "bad" woman he has no commitment, no respect. She is there to be used.

His conscience (the security guard) barely bothers him about penetrating the stranger (the dark factory) but, perversely, does prevent him enjoying "his" woman (the castle).

When Charles heard this explanation, he nodded in agreement. This was indeed his view. And that of his father, uncle and most of his friends. He had no serious interest in changing this outlook, especially since Kim had announced she was pregnant. The hypnotherapist's suggestion that Charles and Kim seek marriage counselling fell on deaf ears.

A lawyer we shall call Mathilde did seek help from a psychotherapist. She had told the referring doctor that she rarely had an orgasm. The truth was that Mathilde never had an orgasm -- with her husband.

She'd been faking it for years. But she had climaxed with previous boyfriends. Also during a two-night stand a few months ago.

Mathilde had been a speaker at a lawyers' convention a thousand miles from home. There she met Roger, a brooding electrical engineer who had been trouble-shooting the hotel's elevators.

"He was not particularly good-looking but he had these soft grey eyes," Mathilde confided to the therapist. She smiled. "He was brutal in bed."

Mathilde was mildly surprised to find herself telling the male therapist details she had not felt comfortable confiding to her female doctor.

There was no question of her wanting to leave the marriage. She loved her husband, had a marvellous life. All that was missing ws the joy of orgasm. It was something she yearned for.

Until she met Roger the lack of orgasms with her husband had not bothered her much. Mathilde had become used to pretending -- and to satisfying herself in secret.

The therapist faced two dilemmas:

i) perhaps, despite Mathilde's conscious denials, there was some problem between her and her husband

ii) the therapist usually worked with couples, not individuals, on such sexual challenges.

He decided that, given the husband was not present and would be unlikely to come to future sessions, he would work with Mathilde, and he would use hypnotherapy. If the outcome was successful, there would be no need to explore possible conflicts between husband and wife.

First the therapist explained a little about hypnosis and how it could help Mathilde. Her first session was devoted to her simply relaxing into hypnosis, and becoming familiar with how safe and peaceful it felt.

In Mathilde's second and third sessions of hypnosis the therapist suggested Mathilde silently relive an earlier experience of orgasm.

In her mind she was to take particular note of the physical and emotional feelings which allowed her to climax.

When the orgasm in her imagination was over she would open her eyes, though remain in hypnosis.

Then the therapist pointed out, and Mathilde confirmed, that she had been internally very relaxed just prior to making love. And that during foreplay and intercourse, she became "lost" in the pleasure.

The therapist asked Mathilde to again close her eyes and this time to imagine herself in bed with her husband. Again she could relive the details silently, no need to tell the therapist anything, except when the imagined lovemaking was over.

When Mathilde compared the earlier experience with how she felt when making love with her husband she immediately noticed her tension.

"I am not relaxed and I don't get lost in the act." Sometimes she thought about cases she was working on and at other times she focused on making sure her husband was satisfied.

In the next part of the session the therapist first gave Mathilde suggestions that she could allow herself to relax with her husband, that she could allow herself to climax with him.

The therapist again waited silently while Mathilde played the scene through in her mind.

When she signalled (with a broad smile) that the scene had reached a successful end, the therapist closed the session with positive suggestions about Mathilde allowing herself to be relaxed, focused on pleasure and allowed to climax when making love with her husband.

And so it was.

Hypnotherapy has also been used successfully to overcome other sexual problems such as overlubrication, exhibitionism, and to uncover the reason a client became a transvestite.

Before seeking help with a sexual difficulty it is important to be sure it really is a problem. For example, a man may go to a therapist because he believes he suffers from premature ejaculation. But if the man is married to a woman who dislikes sex, indeed "wants it over with as soon as possible," that's exactly what is happening, so where's the problem?

Twenty-five years old Eugene's problem was real enough: he could not become erect. A handsome, single, bus driver, Eugene had had several medical examinations; all the doctors had concluded there was no medical cause for his impotence.

At first, hypnotherapy did not help Eugene. He became more and more despondent about his failure, scared to date and unable to sleep at night.

The hypnotherapist had used approaches one or more of which usually resolve psychogenic impotence:

> positive suggestions
> aversive therapy
> satisfying imagery
> arm rigidity

But nothing worked.

The hypnotherapist finally decided to enlist the guidance of Eugene's subsconscious through finger signalling and direct relay of images in response to questions.

(With finger signalling -- also known as an ideodynamic technique -- a hypnotized person allows the subconscious to answer questions with predesignated fingers that represent "Yes," "No," "Don't Know," and "Not yet ready to answer").

This approach proved fruitful, although at first puzzling.

Hypnotherapist: "I'm going to ask your subconscious some questions. There's no need for you to think about the questions or the answers. Simply allow your subconscious to respond through the fingers it has selected.

You will probably feel a tingling begin in the finger that the subsconscious selects. Then it will lift as though of its own accord.

Now, I'd like to ask your subconscious if there is a purpose served by Eugene's impotence?"

[This question is often answered "yes" and subsequently leads to an explanation such as a desire to punish self or partner for some reason].

[Fimger responses are indicated with ( )].

Eugene: (No).

H: "Does the cause of the problem lie in Eugene's past?"

E: (Yes).

[This response steered the hypnotherapist along the wrong path. He took no account of the literalness with which the subconscious absorbs information. Consequently, the hypnotherapist understood the "Yes" response to mean that there was a specific event, a trauma or a message, that began Eugene's impotence. As was later revealed, the "cause in the past" referred, not to a particular event, but to an ongoing process.]

H: "Did the cause happen before Eugene was 20?"

E: (Yes).

H: "Did the cause happen before Eugene was 15?"

E: (Yes).

H: "Before 10?"

E: (No).

[Now the hypnotherapist, who erroneously assumes some single event happened, switches from finger responses to image responses].

H: "Okay. I'm going to ask the subconscious to present to your mind an image that is somehow connected to the problem we're dealing with."

E: "I'm in a shop. I don't know how old I am but a man picks me up. I'm very scared. He holds me to him. Someone else comes in and tells the man to put me down."

[The hypnotherapist thinks that it is possible something happened in the shop to subsequently cause Eugene to become impotent. However, further questioning reveals that Eugene sees little more than he has already reported. There appears to be no abuse, no negative messages (such as "You'll never be a man.")

The session is drawing to a close so the therapist reverts to ideomatic questioning. He decided to check the medical verdicts].

H: "Does the problem have any medical basis to it?"

E: [Long pause]. (No).

H: "Is there something physical that would help?"

E: (No).

H: "Is there something missing in Eugene's diet, or something he should not be eating or drinking?"

E: (Don't know/don't want to answer yet).

[Eugene snaps out of hypnosis, much to his own surprise. In previous sessions for other problems Eugene had enjoyed hypnosis so much he had been reluctant to emerge. He puts himself back into hypnosis].

H: "Okay. Our time is nearly up. I want to thank your subconscious for its help. I'm now asking it to provide you with a dream that will give you a strong indication on how to solve the problem that brought you here."

[Eugene once again snaps out of hypnosis].

H: "Wow. We're clearly close to something significant, otherwise you wouldn't come out so suddenly."

E: "I don't understand why. But while you were talking about me having a dream something floated into my mind: smoking."

H: [Incredulous]. "You smoke!"

E: "Yes, a lot."

H: "There you are. That's what your subconscious was telling us: the cause of your impotence is smoking! Have you stopped before?"

E: "Yes. For a while."

H: "And did you have erections okay then?"

E: [Thinks back]. "Yes, I did. I did."

[And the shop? Why did the subconscious throw that memory into Eugene's mind? Perhaps because the shop sold cigarettes.]

The Truth About Intuition And Prayer

In our very exterior oriented, high technology world it is easy to become isolated from your inner life. Information overloaded is no longer in question. We are barraged with TV radio and magazine ads suggesting how we should live, drive, eat, dress, play, work, dream, brush our teeth, shower, blah, blah, blah. The amount of information produced in the world is a staggering 250 terabytes per year. Over 100 million pages of text information per person are generated annually.

To keep pace with this we get up in the morning and we have our coffee or tea (stimulate) special blend, special pot and special filters. Then we check the morning TV news which tells us how to drive to work while drinking our special coffee/tea. We get into our cars turn to the radio station we always listen to tell us how more information and where to go and how sensational the world since you have to raise above the noise level to be heard. Newspapers, Internet, or Mobile devices feed our now caffeine style addiction to information. We spend the day with telephone calls, cell phone calls, email, text messaging and voice mail even after we leave the office. Our off hours and recreation, in many cases, are filled with mental stimuli such as online gamins, chat rooms and computer games. Our mind is so full of thoughts that even in the middle of the night when we barely wake up we discover our mind is still running. Our mind doesnt shut off. It continues running.

We sort and filter this flood of information so we can be selective about what occupies our conscious mind. There is also a phenomenon known to psychologist as deleting. Not unlike spam filtering for email our mind selectively deletes information in order to capture what seems most important. We dont want to store all the information that comes in and so we begin deleting. It is like reading this sentence with certain words deleted to save room likesentence wordsdeleted.

With this entire overload we lose touch with our intuition and our self awareness becomes external awareness. Looking outside of ourselves we search for feedback that gives us another message that makes us feel OK. Our intuition has trouble surfacing through this barge of thought streaming all the time, stimulated by our senses.

Intuition is such a powerful tool. It is the ability to tap the flow. It is in the ability to know without reasoning. Intuition pops in or thinks you. But it needs space to do it: Space between thoughts that is. You need awareness of the space between your thoughts to begin opening up to this almost magical ability.

Perhaps, like many people, you dont believe your have intuition. Then you have been feed nonsense. When you read books about intuition, and there are many, you discover everyone has it. But, not everyone has developed it. So, you have to spend time practicing intuition. Learning what it feels like. Noticing if you receive through verbal thought-auditory or through images. All are various modes of intuition. Usually, your most developed mode of operating (auditory, visual, kinetics) will be the mode through which intuition operates.

Almost all of our rational knowing is based on our experience, meaning memory, emotion and interpretation. Therefore, we process our world through our memories, sorting matches and filtering data until we arrive at the answer that appears to fit the data. If we have no match we begin the process of locating similar experiences or the experiences we know that others have had that are similar. If this fails we ask someone we think want is the answer

Here is an exercise that will help you develop your intuition as an alternative resource to the rational mind. Not a replacement, mind you. Although this exercise is contrived to give you a safe environment to focus your awareness in a quiet space to receive intuitive answers, you do not need any special environment or circumstance to use your intuition. In fact, having it available when you are in trouble is a great tool.

Exercise 1. Find a place where you can sit comfortably and relaxed but not where you will most likely go to sleep. Therefore, dont do this in bed or at night in your easy chair. If you can find a place where you wont be interrupted it will keep you from feeling tense about someone walking in or bothering you. 2. With your eyes closed take a deep breath and focus your awareness on your feet. Notice if there is tension in your feet and where it is. Then consciously relax any spots that are tense. Focusing on any spots in your body and saying to yourself relax allows your muscles will begin to loosen up. 3. Focus your awareness on your calf muscles and do the same thing as you did for your feet. Continue this until you reach your head. Once you are at the top of your head allow your awareness to wash over your whole body back to your feet. 4. Next sit and allow your mind to slow down. To do this you allow your awareness to follow your breathing rather than your thoughts. As you notice your mind slowing down bring your awareness to the space between the thoughts. 5. Play with this exercise until you can create more space between your thoughts. You will not be able to force this. You have to allow it to work.

After going through this exercise several times you will find it easier and easier to do. In the space between your thoughts will come your intuitive insights? Although, this exercise is only one of many used to develop your insight try it for a week and then check your progress.

Now what about prayer?

For thousand years we have been trained in the art of praying in an inappropriate, incoherent and haphazard way: to get something from an entity that is beyond the clouds and beyond our rational understanding. This type of prayer is not always answered and the usual response is then you didnt deserve it.

Many Saints have come into the world and illuminated just what prayer is all about: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of The Cross, St. Augustine, Buddha, and many others. I dont believe we will ever understand Jesus real words if we dont understand the basic premise that God is within us not outside of us. As Jesus says the Kingdom of heaven is within.

Mental prayer is different from spiritual prayer. Mental prayer is a verbal thinking in the mind, more a mental discussion with Ego than true prayer.

Teresa of Avila wrote in her book Interior Castle in 1579 As far as I can understand, the door of entry into this castle [soul] is prayer and meditation: I do not say mental prayer rather than vocal, for, if it is prayer at all, it must be accompanied by meditation.

Therefore, we must first enter into the state of being that opens the pathway to our soul. We need to know the truth of who we are. We need to understand our inner world as the path to real understanding beyond the mind. We must discover the Temple within and go there to pray. Dust away the material from the Temple and go within to the most High Place.

A short time ago I was told by a very learned man that souls without prayer are like people whose bodies or limbs are paralyzed: they possess feet and hands but they cannot control them. In the same way, there are souls so infirm and so accustomed to busying themselves with outside affairs that nothing can be done for them, and it seems as though they are incapable of entering within themselves at all, wrote St. Teresa of Avila.

Prayer, then, not only requires us to find the quiet place within, i.e. our temple, but to come in the manner fit for such things. God is spirit and therefore to come to God we must do so in spirit not in mind and body. We come not to have a mental/verbal communication but a communion with God.

As we go into our sacred meditation we can come with clear intention. What is our intention? We come with the feeling of what we want and from the feeling/intention we shall discover our goal.

How different this kind of prayer is from ordinary haphazard rambling done without understanding! Prayer must have intention and feeling till it becomes higher aspects counterpart of the creation itself. Instead, how much time, money and energy are frittered away in useless prayer in the middle of the night or the anxious moments of the day!
