With RFID technology a store owner knows everything about the item you take to the checkout including price, colour size etc. The USA now wants to put this technology into passports which would allow people to be mass processed through custom control, without having to form queues. You know what its like when you arrive home late and there is a queue of 200 people in front of you at the Passport desk. So a convenience would be faster people handling.

Credit card companies would be able to read your card simply by you waving it near a reading device. So we face a revolution in the use of RFID technology

But security on terrorist activity may be compromised because he could alter his passport to get though without an official actually seeing the falsified document.

And then there is the issue of personal privacy.
You buy an item using RFID and for the rest of the day a scanner could pick up the fact you just bought it and how would this compromise you if you are holding a RFID credit card.

Also consider the supply chain structure.
Now thieves could know what's being held in premises and whats its value is.

There are some solutions fro specific cases
So for example when you buy something, there should be a tear off section your ticket to remove the device. So you will not be readable after youve bought your items.

RFID and security tags

So have you finally have given up on hand watering and want a in-ground system? Designing a sprinkler system may be easier than you think.

In this short tutorial you will learn how to create a simple garden plan and then estimate how much conduit and sprinkler heads you will need for your project.

Plotting your garden area
First, find a some graph paper. If you don't have any you can Google "printable graph paper" and print the example images. Depending on the size of your yard, establish the scale by referring to each square as 2 or more feet. (see our printable graph paper to skip this step)

Next, you will want to measure and draw your house and patio areas. Be sure to include side walks and other obstructions like trees and garden borders as well.

Locating your water source
Once you have define these areas and your garden boundary you will need to locate your water source. For this DIY project we will be using your outside spigot as the water source. Locate these on your plan with an "X".

Choosing a sprinkler head
Now we will need to decide on what kind of sprinkler head to use. In this tutorial we have selected Rotors for our project. These are a rotating gear driven heads and are a great choice for large lawn areas.

Rotor heads silently spray a water stream out to an average distance of 20 feet. They will minimize the amount of conduit required for you project.

Creating spray templates
Next, we will create a spray template. On a separate piece of graph paper draw 4 circles with a diameter (width of the circle) measuring 40 feet. Then cut each circle out with a pair of scissors. (note: see our predrawn sprinkler templates to skip this step)

Then we need to cut one of the sprays in half and another in quarters for smaller areas. Since our Rotors allow adjustable spray angles we can keep certain areas dry by simply spraying outward.

Tracing your spray patterns
Start with areas like the edge of house, patios or edge of street and use the half circles. With the spray templates simply trace around them using a pencil.

Each spray pattern should overlap at least 30% to ensure no areas in your lawn or garden will become dry. Once all half circles are drawn, fill in middle areas with full sprays and quarter spays where needed.

Defining your watering zones
Lastly, we need to draw in the conduit and create watering zones. Starting at your spigot, draw a gradual curve from one head to the next, making sure your conduit never overlaps. Be sure to avoid tight turns in your design.

For this tutorial we will use 3 heads for each zone. By connecting a series of 3 heads together you are establishing one watering zone. Repeat this process to the remaining heads on your plan.

Checking your Psi and Gpm
You will also want to check your Psi and GPM levels. A call to your water company will give you a good idea of how good your water coverage will be.

Other methods include using a pressure gauge (it easily attaches to your faucet) and a gallon bucket (For example if it takes 7 seconds to fill a gallon bucket then divided 60 by 7 .. or 8.6 GPM)

When the weather is nasty, be it in the early spring or late fall, many anglers miss out on some of the best bass fishing of the year. When their boats are in the garage, and their gear is stored away, other anglers in the know, cash in on some of the best fishing of the year using some special techniques. One of the most effective ways to catch big bass in colder water, is a technique known as "Dead-Sticking." The anglers who can brave the elements and employ these techniques, catch some of the largest bass of the year.

"Dead-Sticking Technique"

The technique actually involves more patience than action. Some of the best ways to present a bait using a Dead-Sticking technique are Drop-Shotting, using a suspending jerkbait, and fluttering soft plastics to the bottom. These are great ways to tempt early season and late season bass. You won't catch a ton of bass in really cold water, but you can have a memorable day, and catch some of the larger bass of the year. When the water temperature is in the low to mid forties, shad and herring either die off in the winter, or they are so lethargic, that they are a good target for feeding bass. A lure that suspends at the level of the bass, or just falls slowly to the bottom, or in the case of the drop-shot, just sits still in the middle of the water column, offers a tempting imitation of a dying shad.

"Jerkbaits"

There are many good Jerkbaits on the market today, but for dead-sticking techniques I like certain baits more than others. Smithwick Rogues, Lucky Craft Pointers, and Rapala Husky Jerks, and Strike Pro USA are among my favorites.

They are excellant baits for dead-sticking because they suspend. You can throw them out, reel them down, and play the waiting game. I have done this, and many times, while getting a drink, or grabbing something to eat, the bass have hit the bait. Sometimes it takes as long as a minute, or even two, before a bass will move up to a suspending bait and decide to hit it. I throw the baits way past the target, and jerk it down to where I think the bass are. In some bigger lakes and reservoirs I like to fish any standing timber they have available. I jerk the bait down, and then stop it right by a tree. I then let it sit as long as a minute before moving it again.

Many times the bass will hit while it is sitting still, or when I first start to move it again. This happened to me quite a few times in Greenwood Lake and in Union Lake, in New Jersey. It is an excellent way to catch cold water bass in these and other lakes. I had great success with this method on Table Rock Lake, and Bull Shoals in Missouri, working the standing timber.

It doesn't really matter if it's a tree, or rocks, or next to a dock. The trick is to let the bait sit there for as long as it takes, without moving it all. A lot of anglers are tempted to impart some action to the bait, but this is a mistake. This is the time to wait as long as you can stand it. Nerves of steel are required for this type of fishing.

Another good location to use this technique is over old roadbeds, like in Spruce Run reservoir in New Jersey. I also like to use them along bluff walls, and across long tapering points. When the water starts to warm in the spring, or after a warm spell in the winter, bass will move up from the deeper water and suspend over or near these areas. These are ideal baits to use to entice them into striking. I like to find a long flat point, near a creek channel, where the deep water isn't far from the shallow water. This is where the bass will be, due to the fact that don't have to move very far, which is important this time of year, but especially true in the winter.

When bass are suspending, if you throw a carolina-rigged bait, you are actually fishing under the bass, if you use a crankbait, you're usually fishing too fast. This is why suspending jerkbaits are ideal, because they get right down into the suspended bass and stay in one place. This is even more important in the winter, than the early spring. I make sure I fan cast the entire structure from many different angles. Many times the bass don't hit the bait until it is presented at just the right angle, and you won't know what that is until you make enough casts to start catching fish.

The most strikes occur in about eight to ten feet of water, and suspending baits that go down to about eight feet are the best. You need at least two feet of visibility for dead-sticking baits, and more is preferable. It is very important for them to be able to see it, as you are not moving the bait, and it doesn't make much noise. My best days deadsticking have been on lakes with a good degree of visibility.

"Dead-Sticking Soft Plastics"

Most bass fisherman use Zoom Flukes, Bass Assassins, and other soft plastics, with a twitch, twitch, reel twitch action, like in the warmer months, but using these baits with a dead-sticking technique in the colder water, works wonders. Bass won't come up and hit these baits on or near the surface when it's cold, but they do hit it when it falls slowly to the bottom. It takes so much patience to work these baits right in cold water that most anglers don't have the patience it takes to work them properly. I use the bait on a unweighted 4/0 or 5/0 WG hook, and let it fall slowly to the bottom. The bait only sinks about one foot every three to four seconds, and this is perfect to imitate a dying shad. I have had the best luck with this in the winter, but in the very early spring, it can be effective also. I just cast it out next to the structure, whether it's a dock, or brushpile, or just over some type of structure that the bass are suspending on. I might twitch it a couple of times as it falls, but not too much, just enough to convince a bass that it is crippled or dying. It is a great bait for areas that have a lot of dying shad in the winter.

One of the baits that I have had the most success with last year using these dead-sticking methods, is the Yamamoto "Senko." This bait is perfect to use dead-sticking. Although it is nothing more than a thin, straight piece of plastic when it is out of the water, it literally comes alive with just the right action to entice bass in colder water. The new "Netbaits" have also worked very well this year, as have the "Bearpaws" "Lazy Sticks". It is perfect for letting sink slowly to the bottom, or for drop-shotting. Because of the salt content in these baits, it sinks a little faster than an unsalted lure. These baits are perfect for a lot of different situations, as long as you have to patience to let them sink. You really don't have to do anything to these lures, except let them sink slowly on a slack line. I rig them on a 2/0 or 3/0 Daiichi or X-Point hooks, on fourteen pound test Spiderline Super Mono, or P-Line.The trick is to pay very close attention to the line, sometimes you might feel a bite, but generally you will not. I just move the rod tip a little bit to see if I can feel the weight of the bass. If I can't, I just let it fall slowly to the bottom again. The action really comes when the bait is falling, so you have to lift the rod slowly, and let it fall back again as you work it across the bottom. There is even a new larger Senko for this year that I am looking forward to using. Even the new Cut-Tail worm may work well in these cold water situations, and I am looking forward to trying them out this year.

"Drop-Shotting"

The best technique to come along for cold water or suspending bass is the Drop-Shot technique. Drop-Shotting can tempt bass into striking in the cold water at all times of the year. In the late winter, or very early spring, I just cast it out, let it hit the bottom, and tighten my line up. I use very little action at all. I don't really shake my rod tip or anything, I just let it sit.

The less action the better! I do fish them around some structure also, and generally when I do this I work the bait with a little more action up to the cover, and then just let it sit when I get next to it. It is a very effective method in the winter or spring. I generally use a three to four inch bait on drop-shot rigs, but other baits have worked at different times. The hardest part of fishing in the winter or very early spring isn't the fishing itself, but motivating yourself to get out there and go when the weather is less than desirable.

This is where the patience comes in, as it is very hard to sit still for long periods of time, and work the bait as slowly as is necessary to produce the strikes. Dead-Sticking really works if you remember exactly what it means. I like to use a high modulus graphite rod for the Dead-Sticking techniques, in a 6 1/2 to 7 foot length, with twelve to fourteen pound test line. I use spinning gear on little finesse baits, or a light line baitcaster. I use a baitcast rod, and up to fourteen to seventeen pound test line, in the deeper water, and for larger baits. Try these techniques this year, and your recreational and tournament fishing will improve greatly.

The trick is to make sure it matches your skin tone exactly and apply it sparingly. For best results, exfoliate your skin regularly and use a moisturizer before you apply foundation.

4.Eyebrows: Eyebrows are so important to the overall look of the face that its worth mentioning twice. They should match your hair color, not be drawn on and not be too small. The best eyebrows begin above the inner corner of the eye and end at the outer corner.

Essentially there is little difference between the process that one follows for a buy to let mortgage in the UK than there is for any other type of mortgage. The lender still has to consider your credit worthiness, the value of the property, how much down payment you can afford and all of the other usual considerations. However, in addition, the lender will usually be interested in what the market is for letting properties in the same area as the one that you are thinking of investing in. The lender will look at property taxes and average rents for similar properties. Other than those particulars, however, the process moves along nearly the same.

A buy to let mortgage can be arranged for either commercial or residential property. Terms can range from between five to forty-five years. There are fixed and variable interest schemes available, and the lender takes an interest in your property just like with any other mortgage so your property is still at risk if you fall into arrears. One difference is that a lender will consider your potential cash flow from rental income as part of your available money to repay the loan under some circumstances.

Because not all lenders view buy to let mortgages as a risk that they are willing to take, your best route is to choose a mortgage broker who specializes in buy to let schemes. This way you have the best opportunity of getting you application reviewed by the largest number of lenders who are likely to make a decision in your favor. Since you do not have to pay a fee to engage the broker there is no reason not to take advantage of their services.

Before you buy
You should work with either a commercial or residential real state broker, depending upon the type of property you are looking to invest in, who understands the buy to let market in the area that you are considering. Choose an agent who is bonded and who has a large portfolio of potential properties for you to review.

Have your broker help you choose areas that are compatible with the type of property that you want to buy. Choose property that matches the needs of the area. For example, you might find it hard to fully let an office building in an area that is used primarily for light manufacturing. Likewise, a warehouse might not go over well if it is surrounded by an office park complex. If you are thinking about purchasing residential property with your buy to let mortgage then make sure that you look in neighborhoods where there are already properties for let. It may be very hard to let a home in a neighborhood populated exclusively by high-income home owners.

Planning your cash needs
You should also determine the maximum that you are willing to spend to buy property. Besides considering the purchase price you will need to determine your available down payment and other expenses such as the services of a solicitor, stamp duty, survey/valuation fees, broker fees etc. You should also consider after-purchase expenses including remodeling to make the building fit for its intended usage, utility deposits and agent's fees if you plan to use a letting agent to attract and vet tenants.

Other expenses are sure to include insurance, routine property maintenance plus ground rents (if applicable) and property taxes. Usually your tenant is responsible for utilities after they move in as well as any Council Tax, TV licence fees, and the like.

Consult with your accountant
In many cases there are tax allowances and deductions which can be taken against rent that you receive. Your usual and customary expenses, including maintenance, insurance, cleaning and landscaping, as well as other recurring expenses likely apply. While you may not deduct the actual cost of your initial improvements, subsequent repair and replacement of those improvements likely will be deductible. In some cases you can take a flat 10% of the rent as a deduction against normal wear and tear. The tax maze can be very complicated so be sure to let your accountant help you navigate it.

During the buy to let mortgage loan process
If you are using a mortgage broker then you will not have to jump at the first approval that you receive. The chances are you will be presented with multiple offers. Read each one over and set aside the ones that are so far away from your expectations that even intense negotiations could not make the offer better. Re-read the remaining offers and make a list that details the good and bad points of each one. Send the offers and your list to your solicitor and have him review the contract and your concerns.

Once you are through with that step its time to negotiate. Depending upon the level of service that your broker provides you can either have them handle the negotiations, or you can hire your solicitor, or you can do it yourself.

What can/should be negotiated? Anything from the term of the loan to interest rates, pre-payment or early cancellation fees, payment due dates, lender's fees, fixed and variable interest rates, items of concern found by your solicitor and anything else that doesn't strike your fancy the first time out. There is no risk to attempting to negotiate and you can always be sure that you will NEVER get what you want if you don't ask for it.

Buy to let mortgages used to be very hard to obtain and only people who didn't really need the money were able to get approval. This is no longer the case. Competitive lenders, especially those lenders who work with buy to let mortgage brokers, realize that the market for residential and commercial property letting is on the rise again. Now is the right time to find a broker and get busy building your investment portfolio of properties.

Why do you want to go throughout life living it with less vitality, fun, ambition and adventure than you are capable of? I don't know, but we all do it to some degree. We all have an area of our lives that we spend time doing or being a part of when we would rather be, do or have something else.

Then one day we get an inkling that we're not happy and that maybe we would like to change something. So we set a goal and get fired up, try the change for a bit and get sucked back into a life of mediocrity. All the while beating ourselves up for failing. At the same time reinforcing our ideas that we never were meant to succeed. Must be the genetics. Can't do it without the support of my spouse, boss, children, or family.

The real reason we never accomplish our goals and dreams is because we give up. If we didn't give up, we would eventually find a means to achieving our dreams. One step after another, down the path, discovering new things along the way and getting wiser as we go.

Piece by piece, one step at a time on the journey, the clues to solving our life situations present themselves. But those that turn around at the first obstacle of CHOICE, never even get on the path of success.

Once you DECIDE that you will achieve your goals, dreams, ambitions and aspirations to be, do, have more, it's only a matter of finding out what you need to know to make it all work.

In one study I looked at of 700 people, only 14% said that they achieved most of the goals they had set out at the beginning of the year. Of that 14% only 1% said they accomplished everything they set out to do. The other 86% said they accomplished some to none of what they set out to do. I say this only because; I think it's important to note that most of us don't do what we set out to. The other thing to note is that there is 14% of the population that is doing something that most of us are not. And we need to learn it.

Here is another interesting note. 42% of us write down the same darn goals every year. We obviously know what we want, because we keep wanting it year after year, so lets learn how to get it.

I was talking with my personal training client Larry the other day. Larry is 74 and like all 74 year olds, has quite a bit of life experience and with a little prodding, is willing to share.

We were talking about the movie "The Secret" and the power of thought. We went back and forth and at one point I said "I believe that if something has been accomplished by someone on earth, then anyone can do it." So starts the debate..

He said "do you remember the other day when I asked if I did this exercise, would I look like you?" I knew where he was going with this and said "Yes..". He looked at me and said " You said "no", and I appreciated your honesty. You said that you didn't choose your parents and they were too young to be mine!"

Well, like most situations, I spouted off a smart assed answer and was called to task for what I said at a later date. What I really meant was that he was 74 and physically, it was past his time to look just like I did. Youth has its advantages and disadvantages.

"This reminds me of a story about my grandson." He said. "He was only six at the time and they were talking about positive thinking and that you can be anything you want as long as you concentrate your thoughts and efforts on becoming it".

He smiled. "After about 30 minutes my grandson piped up and said, "But I can think about being a pig as much as I want but I still can't be a pig".

Ah, from the mouths of babes the truth speaks. It's a harsh fact but there are things that are physically possible with the right tools, opportunities and enough time while others, well..they are called miracles.

There are enough stories and personal accounts to make miracles a definite possibility but I would rather take the approach of..
